Syracuse, NY– MANUPAC, The Manufacturers Association of Central New York, Inc. Political Action Committee, today released a joint announcement with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce announcing their endorsement of John Katko for Congress in New York’s 24th congressional district. The two organizations endorse candidates based on their records on issues critical to economic growth, including regulatory reform, taxes, infrastructure, domestic energy production, and free trade. The announcement was made today amongst community and business leaders at MACNY member Gear Motions, located in Solvay.
MANUPAC Chairman and President of Gear Motions Dean Burrows stated, “On behalf of the whole team here at Gear Motions, we are both pleased and honored to host today’s MACNY and US Chamber endorsement for Congressman John Katko. The past two years, our MACNY membership the Board at large and businesses such as Gear Motions has appreciated a terrific working relationship with John and his staff. When John has had significant votes come up, he reaches out to those who it will impact, asks for our input, and thoughtfully makes a decision on how to vote that will best serve his district and our needs, always remaining open and communicative in the process. We are fortunate to have him in Washington representing our best interests, and proudly support his candidacy for another term in Congress.”
“In difficult times, we are reminded of the importance of having leaders that understand the genius of the American system of government and free enterprise and who are willing to tackle the hard problems that confront our nation,” said U.S. Chamber CEO Thomas J. Donohue. “As our nation faces many challenges and is collectively working to not just reopen our economy but return to growth and expanded opportunities for all Americans, we need leaders like Rep. John Katko. He has a proven track record of legislating responsibly and standing up for good policies. The U.S. Chamber is proud to endorse John and looks forward to partnering with him in the future.”
“On behalf of the manufacturing community we are pleased to be standing here today at Gear Motions supporting John Katko for Congress,” stated Randy Wolken, President & CEO of MACNY – The Manufacturers Association. “Throughout John’s tenure as the representative of the 24th District, while our membership has always been grateful for his pro-growth agenda and advocating on our behalf in Washington, what stands out to the membership just as much as his record is his accessibility. Countless times, when a policy issue comes up that will impact our region’s manufacturing sector, John and his team will reach out to MACNY immediately, not only asking our thoughts, but asking to speak directly with our members to discuss the issues with them directly before he makes a voting decision. This open line of communication and clear regard for the sector’s needs makes him a true advocate for us. On behalf of the manufacturers, I am pleased to be giving John our endorsement for the 24th congressional district.”
“I’m honored to be endorsed by the many local manufacturers and small businesses represented by the Manufacturer’s Association of Central New York,” said Congressman Katko. “During this crisis, local manufacturers and small businesses have been forced to grapple with the devastating economic conditions created by COVID-19. Amid these challenging times, we need strong leaders who will work across party lines to ensure a vibrant economic recovery for our community. I supported the authorization of the Paycheck Protection Program, and helped advance measures to make the program more accessible and responsive to challenges facing local small businesses. The manufacturers and businesses which make up MACNY will play a key role in this recovery, and I look forward to supporting them in any way I can.”
During the 116th Congress, Congressman John Katko received a 98% ranking in the U.S. Chamber’s annual How They Voted scorecard, and a lifetime score ranking 94%.
