CENTRAL NEW YORK LAW ENFORCEMENT STANDS WITH KATKO

Syracuse, New York – Standing at the Police Memorial at Forman Park in Syracuse this morning, law enforcement unions from across the 24th Congressional District announced support for Congressman John Katko’s re-election campaign.

Endorsements were announced from the Syracuse Police Benevolent Association, the Onondaga County Deputy Sheriff’s Police Association, the Syracuse Firefighter AssociationAuburn Police Local 195,the City of Oswego Police Union, the Upstate Police Benevolent Association, the National Association of Police Organizations, and the New York State Professional Fire Fighters Association.

“For nearly twenty years, I worked with the brave men and women of our law enforcement to help keep our community safe. I am humbled and honored to receive their endorsement today,” said Congressman John Katko.  “Their work is more important now than ever, as we continue to see an increase in violence across our community.  As a prosecutor working alongside the Gang Violence Task Force, curbing violence was a top priority for me.  Now, in Congress, I’m fighting to ensure funding is available to keep these types of programs in place.  I’m also prioritizing efforts to combat the heroin and synthetic drug epidemic plaguing our community, and pushing national security reforms through Congress to keep our country safe.  Our local law enforcement and first responders put their own lives on the line each day and I am proud to fight for their interests in Congress.”

Congressman John Katko was elected in November 2014 to represent the 24th Congressional District of New York, which includes Onondaga, Cayuga, and Wayne Counties and the western portion of Oswego County.
